You got to love somebody
Ah, Harry, you know I’m thinking about you today. I know it is hard
to do, but today is referred to as “Love Litigating Lawyers Day”,
so I promise that I won’t Razz you today (I’ll do
twice as much tomorrow).
Newsday has the scoop on todays rally at Washington Square Park in New York City to save the New York landmark, CBGB’s. According to the article, the rally is a go for today at 3 pm. It will feature performances by Blondie, Bouncing Souls, Gavin Rossdale’s new band, “Institute”, as well as speakers which will include Talking Head’s, Chris Franz, Tina Weymouth and one of the people who have made Harry’s life complete, Little Steven (Silvio Dante).
Let’s see, if I go to the rally at 3 pm, I’ll be cutting it close but I will make it home to listen to my Wednesday night traditional of (besides meatballs and spaghetti) Vincent Pastore’s Wise Guy Show, on Sirius radio. Tonight’s anticipated guests will include, the stand up comedian Joey Kola. Joey will making some appearances at the Bogota Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey between September 26 and October 2.
Another guest is author, David Evanier, who wrote books about Bobby Darin and Jimmy Roselli (Making the Wiseguys Weep). Mr. Evanier, is the former senior editor of “The Paris Review”. His book, “Making the Wiseguys Weep”, which was the biography of Jimmy Roselli, became a New York Times “Notable Book of the Year”. Many of us are familiar with the bestselling book, “Who’s Sorry Now”, the biography of Joe Pantoliano (Ralph Cifaretto), which he co authored.
He is currently (this may be finished by now), is working on the biography of another great Italian American, Louis Prima, who was considered “The King of Swing”. Louis Prima, even though he died in 1978, music lives on. David Lee Roth, in the 80’s, recorded his song, “Just a Gigolo - I ain't Got Nobody" and in the 90’s, Gap clothing stores, used 2 Louis Prima songs; “Khakis Swing” and "Jump, Jive and Wail" in their commercials. Here is a trivia question for the Wise Guy Cast member, “Brooklyn”, Joe Causi, “What Louis Prima song was on the disco charts for almost one year, and who recorded it?” You can find the answer here.
Another very, very special guest is actress Jordan Bayne. Jordan Bayne appeared in the year 2000, movie, “Under Hellgate Bridge” with Sopranos actors, Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy), Dominic Chianese (Uncle Junior Corrado Soprano), Frank Vincent (Phil Leotardo) and Tony Ray Rossi (the late great Fred Peters). Ms. Bayne also appeared in the theatrical production “Summerwinds” with James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano). She recently finished filming a short film, “Argo” and is presently in the process of editing the footage for the movie.
You know the scoop, The Wise Guy Show airs between 6 and 9 pm on Raw Dog 147, don’t knock on my door and forget calling.
