Sound like a Queens girl? Fuhgedaboudit!

by Brad Schmitt

Looks like Tennessee native and one-time Nashvillian Jordan Bayne is doing well in her acting career in New York.

Jordan will be back in Nashville in June with two stars of HBO's The Sopranos because she scored the female lead role in an indie film that features them.

So how did Jordan, a self-described "hillbilly," get cast in Under Hellgate Bridge, a gritty movie set in Queens, NY?

"Jordan comes in on an audition and she comes through the door and I look at her, and I'm like, oh my god. Jordan is like this exotic beauty with a little bit of Indian blood," director Michael Sergio told me yesterday.

"It's a gorgeous mix. She sparkles like a diamond."

But then Jordan opened her mouth and sounded like the East Tennessee native she is.

"I told her, I'm gonna keep bringing you back until you sound like you're from New York. And she's a brilliant little actress. Each time she comes back she's getting better and better. The last time she came back, she was right on. And she got the part," Sergio said.

"Now, you wouldn't know she's not a Queens girl."

I hope to hear from Jordan herself soon.
