FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - David Lansbury joins team for "The Sea Is All I Know" starring Melissa Leo.
NEW YORK January 6, 2009 - Veteran actor David Lansbury has joined award winning blue eyed cherokee films and writer-director Jordan Bayne on the short film "The Sea Is All I Know" starring Melissa Leo. Lansbury, recently seen in "Michael Clayton" with George Clooney, will come on board as a Producer.
"I'm tremendously excited to be partnering up with Jordan. She has enormous facility and insight as a storyteller. She has a depth of vision in her writing which allows the actor a freedom of nuance which is rare and which ultimately resonates eloquently with an audience," said Lansbury.
A critically acclaimed actor on Broadway and in film, Lansbury comes out of the theatrical trade. His father, Edgar Lansbury, produced several hits that include the original New York production of "Godspell" and the Broadway debut of the Tony Award winning "The Subject Was Roses" with Martin Sheen and produced feature film versions of both.
"I've known David a long time and he brings an amazing amount of creativity, soulfulness, and experience to the project. I couldn't be happier about this," said Jordan Bayne, blue eyed cherokee films founder and the scribe of "The Sea Is All I Know".
Bayne, whose first turn as a director garnered her several awards including Best Director wrote the script with Melissa Leo in mind to play to lead.
Leo has recently been nominated for Best Actress by the Screen Actors Guild, the Independent Spirit Awards, VH-1 Critics Choice Awards, as well as, honored with the National Board of Review Spotlight Award and the Santa Barbara Virtuoso Award.
Set in a small fishing town, "The Sea Is All I Know" is a testament to the strength and resilience of the soul. When an estranged couple, Sara and Sonny, come to the aid of their dying daughter, the experience sends them spiraling into spiritual crisis, and emotions they do not understand. In the end, this experience renews their lives, transcends their loss of faith, and even death itself.
The film is in pre-production and is set to lens in April.
